Crosscut Sled

This is an item I have needed for a long time. It is made with dimensional lumber and with half inch birch plywood. Size is about 36 inches by 24 inches. The runners are UHMW screwed in from the bottom. That was the most difficult part of the project getting the runner lined up. I ended up having to trim them a bit with a rabbit plane but they work.

For squaring the fence I screwed in one end of the fence and ran the blade through the plywood up to the main fence. I then squared it up with a square and clamped the other end. Once clamped, I took a piece of scrap and cut all four sides rotating the piece and then checked the squareness. Once square, I drilled screws in the bottom of the fence, pre-drilling the holes.

I also added a stop block that can be added to the sled for pieces longer than 20 inches. It is just a simple stop block that clamps to the sled.
